We were sufficiently pleased with the Food Envy Tiramisu from Aldi we thought to try their Chef Dessert Tartufo Truffle Dessert, which is also made in Italy.
The truffle dessert consists of ‘cocoa sponge cake, chocolate sauce, cocoa mousse, cocoa dusting and chocolate droppings’.
We found this truffle dessert to be much too soft, creamy and dry at the same time. The cream was generous while the sponge was dry without sufficient contrasting texture or the welcome relief from an alcoholic kick to cut through the heaviness of the cream and the moisten the sponge. Textural and mouthfeel issues aside, the dessert delivered on its chocolate flavour, which was not too rich thankfully.
This Chef Dessert Tartufo Truffle Dessert contained 450 g. It was produced in Italy and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
