Tao Kae Noi Original Style Hi Tempura

After enjoy­ing the mild salt and was­abi sea­weed tem­pura snacks by Aji Ichiban from Hong Kong, D and I wanted more. So we decided to give these Tao Kae Noi Original Style Hi Tempura a try when we spot­ted them in an Asian super­mar­ket.

These sea­weed tem­pura snacks have the same format as the Aji Ichiban ones, with tem­pura cov­er­ing a rect­an­gu­lar sheet of sea­weed. Their taste is dif­fer­ent though, with this ori­gin­al style hav­ing a pleas­ant gar­lic and onion fla­vour that’s less Japanese and more gen­er­ic Asian than the mild salt and was­abi fla­vours. We enjoy it though, as they bring a depth of fla­vour to the crunchi­ness of the sea­weed tem­pura.

This pack­age of Tao Kae Noi Original Style Hi Tempura con­tained 40 g. It was pro­duced in Thailand and pur­chased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
