The restaurant and the snack section of IKEA at Marsden Park are on opposite ends of the store several hundred metres away as the crow flies. So every time, we’d find ourselves at the restaurant situated next to the entrance, only to lament at being not hungry enough to want anything from the snack section at the exit of the store. The IKEA at Rhodes solves this problem by having only one entrance/exit, so there’s a shortcut to the snack section on the bottom floor just underneath the entrance.
We finally get our hands on the Hot Dog ($1.00). It’s everything you’d expect from a hot dog — the bun is soft and the sausage is flavoursome — so it’s a steal for $1 with free condiments (D loves his ketchup, although the mustard had a bit of a mysterious appearance).
And the Cinnamon Bun ($1.50). The outside of the bun is very dry, but the centre is covered in a deliciously gooey cinnamon sugar with soft bread and pops of crispy sugar.
The ready-to-eat items at IKEA’s snack section are affordable and tasty, perfect as a snack before or after a guaranteed marathon shopping venture inside its stores.
Ikea is located at Level 1, Rhodes Waterside, 1 Rider Blvd, Rhodes NSW 2138.
