This Tiramisu Latte with Dark Chocolate ($6 large +$2 chocolate) from The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar is the same Tiramisu with all the bells and whistles. It makes a latte out of the tea with full cream milk and a sweet boost of dark chocolate. It is a coffee, a hot chocolate and a tea/tisane all-in-one.
And the result works because the coffee and cacao flavours that make up the tiramisu notes in the infusion itself begs for a creamy mouthfeel. Here, the milk brings a thicker yet still smooth mouthfeel with the dark chocolate adding sweetness, as well as a hint of bitterness to the body that accentuates the coffee notes of tiramisu. The dandelion and chicory flavours of the tisane become more pronounced towards the end to recall the boozy Marsala flavouring the mascarpone cream in tiramisu. In the finish is a pronounced earthiness from the mate before leaving a lingering astringency on the palate. Overall, it’s like a good mocha with earthy notes.
