Twinings Mango & Lychee Green Tea

Winter is one of my favourite seasons. I love the comfort of snuggling deep inside my bed when I’m home and wrapping myself up in my coats and scarves when I’m out. Australian summers are three months I’d happily go without, although I do love the tropical fruits of summer. That’s where Twinings Mango & Lychee Green Tea comes in on a cold winter’s day.

Steeping one tea bag in 200 ml of 80°C water for 90 seconds yields a golden yellow liquor. Mango notes are prominent from the first sip and build towards more floral and sweet notes in the body that gives way to the briskness of the green tea, with the tropical notes lingering with a slight astringency in the aftertaste. The overall flavour doesn’t bring lychees to mind immediately but recalls artificially flavoured mango jelly. This ‘artificial’ taste is likely a result of the pairing of mango with the pronounced perfume-like floral sweetness of fresh lychee. It’s an enjoyable tea, perfect chilled with pitted lychees and mango slices.

This box of Twinings Mango & Lychee Green Tea contained 20 tea bags. It was blended and packed in the United Kingdom and purchased in London, the United Kingdom in 2013.
