Via del Corso Pasticceria e Caffé, Sydney

During my university days just after Westfield Sydney opened and long before Anita Gelateria opened in Central Park, I’d have my catchups with various high school and universities friends at Via del Corsica Pasticceria e Caffè. It was the next best thing after the then pedestrian flavours a available at Gelatissimo.

For old times sake, before they closed down George Street to bus traffic, N and I indulged once more.

I have my old time favourite, green apple. It’s a very moreish and refreshing flavour that’s not too much like artificial green apple candy, and with the added textural fun of candied bits of green apple skin.

For my second flavour, I try the new watermelon. Unlike the green apple, this will watermelon is immensely artificial and tastes just like watermelon flavoured candy. The flavour isn’t very strong and disappears after a couple of spoonfuls as tour tongue becomes somewhat numb to the taste. It’s also an intense red colour which should’ve given me the first sign of artificiality. This does not exist en begin to compare to the watermelon and mint at Anita Gelateria, which is the pale pink colour you expect from watermelon juice and tastes like fresh watermelon.

I might be back, but it’ll be a while with the buses being less convenient.
