The Tea Centre Apple Pie Black Tea

On the rare occasion that D was in the City, I took the chance to tag along and take him with me to check out the selection at The Tea Centre in the Piccadilly Centre.

One of the teas on the back wall that caught my eye was The Tea Centre Apple Pie Black Tea. I love apple pie, but I also knew that anything apple pie flavoured would come with cinnamon notes, so was wary of purchasing blindly. But the staff were exceedingly helpful — after giving me a sniff of the tea she explained that the taste of cinnamon was rather masked by the other flavours in this tea, and offered sniffs of alternatives where cinnamon was more pronounced. The staff certainly knew what they were selling, which was impressive!

This tea smells and tastes much like a delicious apple pie drizzled with caramel sauce. The apple notes — from dried apple pieces — are fresh, the cinnamon is subtle (as promised) and the caramel rounds off the flavour of the tea to something deliciously homey — it’s lightly sweet with a pleasant nutty flavour. The black tea isn’t bitter but pleasantly contributes to a darker caramel flavour — I couldn’t imagine this tea using any other tea as the base.

This bag of The Tea Centre Apple Pie Black Tea contained 50 g. The tea originated in Sri Lanka was purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2015.
